In dealing with the sealed system repairs, some companies prefer to use a "quick-fix" that we in the industry call “sweep charge." While these sweep charges are less labor intensive, they do not clean the system of contamination. In the long run, this contamination can block a compressor, resulting in an even more significant (and expensive) repair. As with most of the "quick fixes", sweep charges do not hold long, and generally fail right after the period of the warranty has expired.
